Annual EventVertical Divider
The Friends hosts an annual event to showcase the Preserve and raise awareness about the restoration efforts for the property. We had a very successful event in October 2019; the evening included a presentation by Dr. Lee Frelich, forest ecologist at the University of Minnesota.
Stay tuned for information about our upcoming fall 2022 event scheduled for Friday, September 9th! Are you interested in helping organize our annual event? Connect with us. |

The Friends have been leading bird and plant surveys at the Preserve. Bird surveys are typically scheduled early mornings in May (during the migration season). We want to gather some pre restoration baseline information on birds species present at the Preserve. The Phase One Oak Savanna restoration (11 acres) will begin winter 2022 and this should help provide more open, flower-rich habitat conducive for songbirds foraging for insects.

RestorationThe Friends help organize invasive plant removal, seed collection, and planting events. Once the ground thaws in the spring (April to June), we usually hold eight to ten garlic mustard removal events. In late autumn we often help with invasive woody plant removal. There will also be opportunities for seed collecting and planting once the Phase One Oak Savanna resotration begins in winter 2022. If you would like to be added to our restoration related email notifications, please connect with us.
